Today’s clinical case involves a 50-year-old patient who presented to the surgeon’s attention with bitemporal hemianopsia.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

MRI analysis showed the presence of a pituitary adenoma, for which trans-nasal-sphenoidal removal was planned.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

At the end of surgery, CSF leakage was observed, due to a small arachnoid lesion, which was treated by use of the Heart\u00ae<\/sup> pericardium membrane.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Heart\u00ae<\/sup> pericardium membrane is characterized by a medium-to-long protection time of 3-4 months, high tissue adhesiveness, and excellent tensile strength. It is also impermeable to CSF, thus enabling the fabrication of a \u201cwatertight\u201d dural reconstruction.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Heart\u00ae pericardium membrane can be attached by suture or fibrin glue.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

From a technical point of view, the equine pericardium membrane was placed between the dura mater and the open sellar floor…<\/p>\n
