Restoration of damaged skeletal segment continuity, due to disease or trauma, is an extremely difficult objective to achieve for orthopaedic and oro-maxillo-facial surgeons. The huge progress made by scientific research and the continuous evolution of surgical techniques enabled the use of bone substitutes, although optimal results has not been obtained yet. The aim of this work is to illustrate the possible applications of Microcomputed Tomography (micro-CT) in the analysis of bioscaffolds of various origins and grafted human bone in order to define their main morphometric qualities and obtain three-dimensional reconstruction by using the SkyScan 1072 scanner.
