The use of a long-permanence membrane can be the key to the success of the regeneration procedure.

The sheet describes a clinical case of implant-prosthesis rehabilitation of an intercalary edentulous area associated to Guided Bone Regeneration (GBR) by using a cortical membrane (Osteoplant, Bioteck) for the protection of a particulate graft. The rehabilitation schedule entailed the insertion of two osseointegrated “bone level” implants and simultaneous regeneration of the defect through a GBR protocol using an equine bone substitute (Bioteck) consisting of a 1:1 mixture of cancellous and cortical granules sized 0.5-1 mm, and a cortical membrane (Osteoplant, Bioteck). 6 months later, one could observe significant bone regeneration.
