The use of an equine enzymatically deantigenated bone substitute in the bone atrophy of the upper maxilla

A 60 years old female patient presented bone atrophy at elements 1.3 and 1.4. It was scheduled to insert two mini-implants. During manual insertion of the mini-implant and during screwing, upon reaching the end of the desired working length, fenestration was observed in the vestibular cortical bone, hence heterologous bone tissue and a collagen membrane were used. About six months after the procedure, the patient underwent an X-ray check-up with open dental cone beam CT. CT has highlighted the presence of mini-implants at 1.3 and 1.4 sites, well-positioned and showing no signs of peri-implant resorption.
