The sheet summarizes the case of a 64-year-old patient who visited the doctor due to an abscess at the site of a four-crown cemented bridge, supported by two implants. The clinical analysis, the X-rays and the CT scan confirmed the presence of non-manageable peri-implantitis at both implant sites. It was therefore suggested that the patient follows a treatment plan consisting of the removal of both implants and, in two successive surgical steps, a procedure for the augmentation of the maxillary sinus with simultaneous guided bone regeneration (GBR) and subsequent implant insertion. The procedure foresaw the use of equine bone substitutes (Bioteck) and of equine pericardium membranes (Heart, Bioteck). The histomorphometric analysis showed a good level of remodeling: the percentage of newly-formed bone tissue was equal to 43% and residual biomaterial was at 30%. The X-rays confirmed the retention of the peri-implant bone levels.
