The purpose of the present study was to evaluate the volumetric resorption of the equine xenograft compared to intraoral autologous graft for anterior maxilla reconstruction. Eight patients (average 50 years old) were included in the study. All the patients received both type of grafts and fixed with titanium screws and were accompanied for 9 months, till their re-entry surgery. The volumetric average for the equine graft and autogenous graft were 11.48+1.92mm3 e 11.83+1.17 mm3 respectivamente (p>0.05). These volumes reduce significantly to 1 0.39+1.16 mm3 e 9.98+1.57 mm3 for the equine graft and autogenous graft respectively. The present study shows that the equine graft displays similar volume reduction to the autogenous graft at 9 months post-operative.
