Comparison of clinical and histological results at post-extraction sites with two different biomaterials.

The sheet describes the results of a retrospective study concerning 46 patients, aged between 43 and 75, who were rehabilitated with implant-supported prostheses. The patients underwent non-traumatic extraction of one or more teeth: the post-extraction sockets received EDEB (enzyme-deantigenic equine bone, Osteoplant Osteoxenon, Bioteck) or ABB grafts (anorganic bovine bone – Bio-Oss, Geistlich). In both groups, the post-extraction sites were protected with the Biocollagen membrane. The data confirm that, even in post- extraction sockets, the remodeling kinetics of EDEB are faster than those of ABB, allowing the formation of a larger quantity of newly-formed bone in the same amount of time.
