SINUS LIFT AND SIMULTANEOUS IMPLANT PLACEMENT: A CLINICAL STUDY

The sheet shows the results of a retrospective study, published in Clinical Implant Dentistry and Related Research in 2017, concerning 106 patients who were rehabilitated by lateral sinus lift and simultaneous implant placement. In this study, cancellous granules of equine origin having a diameter of 1-2 mm (Bioteck) were used, treated with the exclusive Zymo- Teck enzymatic process at controlled temperatures, and a collagen membrane (Biocollagen, Bioteck). The optimization of the undersized drilling of the implant site, an appropriate choice of implant macromorphology and the use of biomaterials of equine origin allowed sinus lift operations to be performed simultaneously with placement of implants under difficult conditions, namely at sites with low bone density and with a poor quantity of residual bone tissue, with the same rate of success in the medium term as sites with better conditions.
