AUGMENTATION OF AN ATROPHIC SUPERIOR MAXILLA WITH BLOCK GRAFTS OF HETEROLOGOUS EQUINE ORIGIN BONE FOR REHABILITATION WITH FIXED PROSTHESIS ON IMPLANTS: A CLINICAL CASE

The use of a bone block of equine origin for the reconstruction of the alveolar crest of an edentulous patient

In this clinical case, enzymatically deantigenated bone blocks of equine origin were used to perform crest augmentation and subsequent implant rehabilitation in a 56-year-old edentulous patient.

After 8 months, clinical and radiographic examinations (Dental Scan and OPT) showed healthy tissue and a good amount of bone augmentation.

After 18 months after grafting, all 8 implants placed showed satisfactory bone density and bone samples at the CT scan.
histological studies have revealed the presence of newly formed bone.
