Treatment of infrabony defects by equine bone graft and pericardium membrane
Today’s clinical fact sheet summarizes a retrospective study of 27 patients with generalized periodontitis who had 1-, 2-, or 3-walled bone defects and who were treated using collagen-preserved equine bone (Osteoxenon®) and natural equine-derived pericardium membrane (Heart® pericardium membrane).
Osteoxenon®bone graft is obtained by the unique Zymo-Teck® enzymatic deantigenation process, which preserves the unaltered mineral component and bone collagen in native form.
Heart® pericardium membrane has excellent mechanical strength properties that allow its fixation by suture or osteosynthesis media without risk of rupture. In addition, it can guarantee a bone graft protection time of 3-4 months.
Clinical and radiographic results at the subsequent follow-up showed significant improvement in periodontal parameters…
