Guided bone regeneration using bone granules and Flex Cortical Sheet of equine origin

The case we are presenting today by Dr. Luca Sbricoli in Padua (Italy), involves a guided bone regeneration (GBR) procedure on a 56-year-old patient with severe bone loss at positions 24-25, a condition that made the placement of standard-diameter implants impossible.

Guided bone regeneration was carried out using a 0.25-1mm size cortico-cancellous granule graft (Osteoxenon® Mix Granules), protected by a 0.5 mm thick flexible cortical sheet (Osteoxenon® Flex Cortical Sheet, OSP-OX09).

Both Osteoxenon® biomaterials are manufactured through the Zymo-Teck® enzymatic deantigenation process, which preserves the mineral component and native bone collagen while avoiding chemical residue accumulation, allowing for rapid graft remodeling.

Additionally, the Flex Cortical Sheet Osteoxenon® acts as an occlusive barrier, providing graft protection for up to 6 months.

At reopening, 6 months after regenerative surgery, it could be appreciated…
