Use of bone block grafts in the treatment of thickness loss of the glenoid cavity
Today we present a study published in the ‘Journal of Experimental Orthopaedics,’ which describes the combined technique of Arthroscopic Subscapularis Augmentation (ASA) and Bone Block (BB) using cadaver simulation. Among the surgical options evaluated by the authors, the possibility of using the equine-derived Bone Block OMC-80, Osteoplant®, was particularly noteworthy.
The OMC-80 Osteoplant® spongy graft, with its specific geometric shape and the presence of suitable holes for fixation, significantly reduces surgical time.
OMC-80 Osteoplant® is obtained by the Zymo-Teck® enzymatic deantigenation process, which selectively removes antigens without applying high temperatures or using organic solvents, preserving its native conformation of bone collagen. Thus, the graft obtained possesses mechanical properties suitable for shaping and drilling without breaking, as well as being recognized naturally by the body’s cells and being remodeled in physiological time.
The average procedure time was 112 minutes. The surgery involving the use of the OMC-80 Osteoplant® graft lasted only…
