Case report on the use of collagen hydrogel H42® in the treatment of periodontal pockets
We present today a clinical case report by Dr. Marisa Roncati (Ferrara, Italy), published in the September 2024 issue of Perio Tribune magazine (Italian Edition).
During a routine oral hygiene session for a 60-year-old patient affected by generalized periodontitis stage III grade B, periodontal pockets 6 mm deep were identified at the level of element 26.
Congruent nonsurgical laser-assisted periodontal instrumentation was performed, and the pockets were kept dry and filled with H42® hydrogel.
The collagen hydrogel H42® was developed using the Exur-Teck® process, a unique innovative technological process which combine equine-derived collagen with resorbable polymers and ancillary amounts of ascorbic acid for viscomodulating function.
H42®, due to its special composition, evenly fills the pocket, sealing it and preventing bacterial recolonization for 15-30 days, promoting tissue healing.
At two months of follow-up, the periodontal probe detected…
