Regeneration of peri-implant soft tissue using a 3D collagen matrix
Today we present a clinical case by Dr. Leonida (Milan, Italy), which demonstrates how to achieve regeneration of peri-implant soft and bone tissues in a single procedure through the combined use of a three-dimensional collagen matrix (Xenomatrix®, Bioteck®) together with a mixture of cortical and cancellous bone granules (Osteoxenon®, 0.25–1 mm, Bioteck®).
The case involves a 36-year-old patient with a compromised tooth at site 4.6. Following atraumatic extraction, the implant was placed, and regeneration was performed simultaneously using bone granules and a collagen matrix.
The Xenomatrix® matrix, derived from equine tendon collagen, plays a fundamental role by acting as a three-dimensional scaffold that promotes rapid soft tissue regeneration while protecting the graft from connective tissue invasion.
The Osteoxenon® heterologous bone granules, treated with the Zymo-Teck® deantigenation process, preserve the natural structure of the tissue and allow complete remodeling within a physiological timeframe.
Healing showed excellent results as early as 7–15 days, with soft tissue invading the upper portion of the matrix, and at 3 months, an excellent quantity and quality of soft tissue was observed around the implant, enabling for final prosthetic restoration.
