Treatment of infrabony defects by equine bone graft and pericardium membrane
Today we bring you a retrospective study of 22 patients treated for regeneration of infrabony defects using collagen-preserved equine bone graft (Osteoxenon®) and natural equine-derived pericardium membrane (Heart® pericardium membrane, Bioteck Spa).
Osteoxenon® bone graft and Heart® pericardium membrane are obtained through the unique Zymo-Teck® enzymatic deantigenation process. This preserves the mineral component and collagen in native form in the bone granules.
Moreover, when applied to the Heart® pericardium membrane, it maintains its mechanical strength and medium-long protection time (3-4 months), allowing it to be fixed either by suture or by pins without risk of rupture.
Clinical and radiographic results at 5-year follow-up showed an average gain of 4.8 mm of clinical attachment and a reduction in pocket depth…
