One-year comparison of hydrolyzed collagen, HA and PRP infiltration in the treatment of knee osteoarthritis
Today, we present the results of a study just published in the international journal “BMC Musculoskeletal Disorders,” which analyzed the efficacy of hydrolyzed collagen infiltration (Chondrogrid®) in the treatment of knee osteoarthritis, comparing it with known treatments such as hyaluronic acid (HA) and platelet-rich plasma (PRP), with a one-year follow-up.
Chondrogrid®, is an innovative infiltrative device based on low molecular weight hydrolyzed collagen of bovine origin, which strengthens the extracellular matrix. Its action promotes pain reduction and recovery of function of joints and muscle, tendon and ligamentous structures predominantly composed of collagen.
This study showed that Chondrogrid® has superior efficacy already after the first injection, also showing a stable therapeutic effect over time in terms of pain relief and functional improvement compared with HA and PRP.
The efficacy of the treatments was evaluated at 3, 6 and 12 months. At 12-month follow-up, Chondrogrid®-treated group showed a 56% improvement in total WOMAC score, compared to 22.5% in the HA group and 47% in the PRP group.
Pain reduction was also higher in the Chondrogrid®-treated group, with a decrease of…
