Treatment of fractures proximal humerus with grafts bone grafts of equine origin
Today’s clinical fact sheet summarizes a retrospective study conducted on 117 patients who underwent reduction and surgical synthesis of proximal humerus fractures by Dr. Giannicola Lucidi’s Team in Rimini, Italy.
The study examined Grade 2 to 4 fractures according to Neer, treated with LCP plates and concomitant grafting of Osteoplant® equine-derived bone blocks and/or wedges.
Osteoplant® blocks and wedges are notable for their preserved bone collagen in native conformation, which provides excellent qualities of resistance to tensile and loading forces and ensures seamless integration with osteosynthesis media.
In addition, unmodified bone mineral component, obtained by the Zymo-Teck® enzymatic process, is recognized as endogenous by osteoclasts allowing complete graft remodeling.
After one year, radiographic follow-up was performed, and joint function was assessed through the Constant-Murley scale, showing…
