Today, we propose the use of the Modified Periosteal Inhibition technique in a clinical case performed by Dr. Andrea Grassi of Reggio Emilia (Italy). This technique, compared to the classical approach, utilizes a flexible sheet made of equine cortical bone, eliminating the need for a second surgery to remove the sheet.
The clinical case involves a patient with fractured tooth element 14 and vestibular fenestration.
A 0.5 mm thick Flex Cortical Sheet (Osteoxenon® Flex Cortical Sheet, OSP-OX09) was used, which was properly cut and hydrated before insertion on the buccal side.
The Flex Cortical Sheet is easy to handle and shape, allowing for perfect adaptation to various defect geometries.
Additionaly, it is obtained through the Zymo-Teck® enzymatic deantigenation process, ensuring complete remodeling with the patient’s vital bone.
