Use of bone grafts of equine in orthopedics and traumatology

In this newsletter we present the results of a study published in the international journal “Minerva Chirurgica,” illustrating the use of Bioteck bone substitutes in various applications in orthopedics and traumatology.

 

In all cases, bone substitutes from the Osteoplant® series were used.

 

These substitutes are made from spongy equine bone tissue made biocompatible through the Zymo-Teck® enzymatic process: specific hydrolytic enzymes eliminate the antigens of equine tissue and preserve the bone collagen in its native conformation.

 

This allows Osteoplant® products to maintain high mechanical strength. Additionally, the native conformation of bone collagen promotes physiological recognition of the graft by osteoclasts, allowing complete remodeling with viable bone.
