3D GBR: Flex Cortical Sheet and L.E.G.O. Technique
Today we present a recent publication, on behalf of Dr. Roberto Rossi (Genoa, Italy), Prof. Fabrizio Bambini (Ancona, Italy) and collaborators, describing an innovative technique for bone regeneration (GBR) in severe three-dimensional atrophy.
The technique called ‘Lamina External Graft Overlay’ (L.E.G.O.) involves the use of Flex Cortical Sheets portions of different thicknesses, to be applied in the different area of the defect in relation to the type of tissue whose regeneration is to be promoted.
Specifically, in this case series, 0.5-mm Flex Cortical Sheets (Osteoxenon® Flex Cortical Sheet, OSP-OX09) placed coronally to promote soft tissue healing and 0.9-mm Flex Cortical Sheets (Osteoxenon® Flex Cortical Sheet, OSP-OX08) applied on the buccal side to promote the regeneration of the cortical profile and safeguard the bone graft used to fill the defect (Osteoxenon® Mix Granules) were used.
The use of the L.E.G.O. technique allows minimizing surgical time and postoperative discomfort in 3D bone reconstructions.
