Use of the Multi-Layer Technique with Flex Cortical Sheet in the esthetic zone
Today we present an interesting case report by Dr. Roberto Rossi (Genoa, Italy), published in the Italian journal Implants. The article describes the effectiveness of using a flexible equine cortical sheet in the esthetic zone, allowing for a targeted and minimally invasive treatment of a late complication related to a fractured tooth.
Following the root fracture of tooth 11, the multi-layer technique (MLT) was used: extraction of the tooth; insertion of an implant; application of a flexible cortical sheet (Osteoxenon® Flex Cortical Sheet, OSP-OX09, 0.5 mm thick) in the vestibular area; and the use of collagen-preserved bone granules (Osteoxenon® Granules) to fill the residual gap between the sheet and the implant.
Both Osteoxenon® biomaterials are produced from equine bone tissue, treated with the Zymo-Teck® enzymatic deantigenation process, which preserves the collagen component while avoiding any chemical residues.
The Flex Cortical Sheets offer homogeneous and defined thicknesses, ensuring predictable clinical results. Furthermore, they are completely remodeled into the patient’s bone and do not require removal.
